new regulations effective January 1, 2025
Regulatory changes affecting boarding facilities in North Carolina, effective January 1, 2025. To comply with the new requirements set forth by the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board, we are implementing several policy updates to ensure the safety and well-being of your pets during their stay with us.
Key Changes That May Affect You:
- Food Storage Requirements:
- If you provide special food for your pet, it must be brought in air-tight containers to reduce the risk of contamination.
- Please ensure the container is clearly labeled with your pet’s name and feeding instructions.
- Medication Administration Policy:
- All medications or supplements must be in their original containers or pill vials with the following information clearly labeled:
- Pet’s Name
- Name of the Medication/Supplement
- Correct Dosing Instructions
- We will not be able to accept or dispense medications that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- Housing and Socialization of Young Animals:
- Puppies or kittens less than six months of age must be housed separately from adult animals, unless the adult is their dam (mother). This measure ensures the safety and comfort of younger animals during their stay.
- Socialization Requirements for Puppies and Kittens (4-16 Weeks): Puppies and kittens between 4 and 16 weeks of age will receive daily access to human social interaction, beyond the interaction provided during routine care. This socialization helps ensure proper mental stimulation and emotional well-being for young pets.
